New Lubbesthorpe resident swaps his car for e-bike and is reaping the benefits
A resident of New Lubbesthorpe and a member of LocalGO, the communities sustainable travel discount scheme, has been changing the way they commute to work thanks to The Drummond Estate and Rutland Cycling.
Alec Twidale, a vehicle technician working in Leicestershire, has recently benefited from saving money and keeping fit thanks to the e-bike loan, funded by The Drummond Estate.
The funded e-bike loans are for the residents of New Lubbesthorpe, giving them the opportunity to try a different way of commuting and travel, resulting in better fitness, cost savings and reduced carbon emissions. As a member of LocalGo, Alec was able to access this offer and is already reaping the benefits of his new way of commuting.
Commenting on his new commute, Alec said, “I used to travel to work by car, it’s about 3.2 miles from my home and it seemed silly using the car just for a small journey. It’s very refreshing so far, it’s nice to get some fresh air and is less stressful than sitting in traffic.’’
He added, ‘’Not only will I save money and keep fit, but it also gives me time to unwind and relax. I would definitely recommend an e-bike to others as a way of commuting, and I will be buying one after this hire period.’’
